Air Fried Mongolian Meatballs

Meatballs in the air fryer? YEP! These meatballs are delicious and a fun change of pace! Using the air fryer cuts the cooking time in half and makes for an easy clean up.

INGREDIENTS:

For the meatballs:

  • 1 lb 93/7 lean ground beef

  • 2 Tbsp dry sherry

  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tsp chili flakes

  • 1/4 tsp brown sugar

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tsp ginger, minced

  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs

  • 1 egg

  • 4 green onions, chopped

For the sauce:

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce

  • 1/3 cup water

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tsp ginger, minced

  • 1 tsp corn starch

  • 2 tsp water

DIRECTIONS: WATCH THE VIDEO

  1. Place ground beef in a bowl then add dry sherry, soy sauce, chili flakes, brown sugar, garlic and ginger. Combine well.

  2. Add breadcrumbs, egg, and green onions to the ground beef mixture and mix well.

  3. In order to divide up evenly, weigh ground beef mixture in grams and divide by 24. Weigh out each meatball using a Tbsp and roll in your hands to form a ball.

  4. Preheat air fryer for 5 min at 400°.

  5. Place meatballs in air fryer and cook at 400° for 12 minutes or until internal temp reaches 165°.

  6. While meatballs are cooking combine sauce ingredients except for corn starch and water, in a sauce pan. Once heated through add your slurry of cornstarch and water and whisk until sauce begins to thicken.

  7. Pour sauce over meatballs in a skillet and toss, keeping warm.

  8. Serve over rice and add any vegetables for a complete meal!
