I've created a fantastic relationship with food. I love that I can splurge every now and then and know that I can get right back on track and it's not the end of the world. I love that I can get creative with my meals/desserts and make them scrumptious and healthy at the same time. Eating shouldn't be stressful or boring. The beauty of flexible dieting is that you can make it fit your lifestyle and goals.

I have been overweight and had an unhealthy relationship with food for as long as I can remember. I was inadvertently taught from an early age that food was both a cure-all and a curse. Sad? Eat. Mad? Eat. Happy? Eat. My parents were serial-dieters and in turn, I started “dieting” at a young age.

I cannot begin to explain how much BIN has changed my life! Initially when I joined BIN my goal was to drop down a weight class from a 58kg weightlifter to a 53kg, and of course to look aesthetically bad ass (cause who doesn’t want that?). After a few short weeks into the program I started to feel amazing in my own skin.

I began to realize that it was truly okay for me to eat that donut and how much better I could be if I were flexible with my eating. I've gained more energy, I'm in better shape- physically and strength wise, and my FAVORITE part of it all-- I am SO in-tune with myself. I know what weeks I'm going to be more tired, I know what to eat on a 1 rep max day, I know how to go out to eat and ENJOY getting dinner, dessert AND drinks.

I think I always knew I’d have to change my lifestyle if I wanted to stop crying every time I looked in the mirror, but I never knew how. My idea of achieving the ideal body was cutting carbs, training harder – adding some cardio in there, maybe trying to Rx a Crossfit workout from time to time.

When I joined BIN in January 2018 I had no expectations. All I knew for sure was that I wasn’t happy. Not with my body (the way it looked or the way it was performing) or myself. I had stopped holding myself accountable for the food I was eating and my body was showing me proof of that.

I used to "count macros" and I use that term loosely because I would just look at a package and say "oh that has too many carbs." Thanks to my coach I gathered a much better understanding of what my body needs and how to fuel it properly. I've made huge strides in my nutrition with a better balance of what I'm eating.

Aaron came to Black Iron Nutrition in 2019 as a Lifestyle client. Before working with BIN, and his coach Kelly, he had lost some weight, but wanted more energy for running and doing Crossfit. Fast forward 2 years--Aaron quickly transitioned to our Performance Nutrition program, and dove head first into running competitively.

My coach was always BEYOND kind and supportive, offering recipes and advice on how to tweak my diet. In the first month I lost nearly ten pounds and three inches off of my waist and never once felt starved for food. I was eating constantly and all nutrient dense foods.

It's not a get-fit-quick scheme, substitute for therapy, or easy way to meet your goals. This is a tag-team effort to getting you to reach your goals in a HEALTHY and sustainable way. What you put into your relationship with your macro coach, your diet, and your fitness is what you get out of it.

Like many people, I want to be both strong and lean. Throughout four years of struggling to achieve this goal, I began to tell myself that it was just too high of an expectation, that it was unachievable. I even started telling myself that I didn't want it anymore. But then something changed.

As someone who has counted macros for years, I felt extremely comfortable with the structure on BIN. What I was looking for mainly was accountability and that extra push to bring me to my goals. Working with a coach over the past 3 months has allowed me to really dial in my nutrition and focus on smaller, sometimes overlooked, details like hitting my micronutrients, monitoring my sleep, and upping my water intake to align with my high activity training.

Joining BIN was one of the best things I could have ever done for myself. It completely changed the way I view food and what it does for me. It gives me something to work for everyday and a community to speak to. You hear it all the time “if I can do it, so can you!” And that couldn’t be more of a true statement.

I had actually had my eye on the BIN IG for awhile, but I was skeptical at first, having gone through a few years with a certain health/fitness MLM, where I saw results...but only at the expense of my sanity and wallet. I certainly did not want a repeat of that, yet I couldn’t help but be amazed at the transformations they were pumping out.

After embracing the college lifestyle for quite some time, I started trying to do flexible dieting on my own after receiving starter macros from Krissy Mae Cagney at Black Iron Gym in 2017, but then I realized what I needed was accountability because I wasn’t seeing a lot of progress. I started my one-on-one BIN journey on July 9, 2018 when my sweatpants no longer fit me.

More so than the weight loss I feel amazing. My coach has worked with me through my crazy post pregnancy hormones, taking it slow to ensure my body was getting enough. My lifts have gotten stronger, my workouts have gotten faster. I feel better in my workouts than I did pre-pregnancy!
