Working with my coach Black Iron Nutrition has been such a great experience. It’s taught me that I don’t always have to be changing my macros or in a restricted deficit, but instead, that fine-tuning the little things can be the extra boost you need. We have spent a lot of time at maintenance calories and focusing on things like stress, sleep, and mental well-being. Who doesn’t want to prioritize sleep and self care?! I didn’t know how important that all was until Margaux pushed me to actually make it a goal to increase my sleep each week and to listen to my body when I was feeling stressed or overwhelmed. I have found over the last several months that the consistency alone, even without changing macros, has been a huge help with my mental well-being and self-confidence because I have been able to maintain my weight, while steadily increasing my numbers in Olympic weightlifting. Being able to do both of those things at the same time has always been a goal of mine, and finding someone who is encouraging me to do both while supporting me when my mind has needed the extra boost has been the greatest help, especially to get me through this holiday season!
