Like most women, I used to have this idea that being “fit” meant being skinny and having six-pack abs. So I was crushing myself in the gym and engaging in restrictive eating behaviors (low carb, low fat). I had low energy, I struggled with food in social situations, and I knew that something wasn’t right... but I couldn’t get myself out of that vicious cycle.
When I first signed on to work with BIN, I thought that it would be as simple as getting macros. But it was so much more than that. They helped me understand that my TRUE goal -- getting stronger and gaining muscle -- was going to require “eating the part.” BIN helped me repair my relationship with food and, during the process, taught me so many lessons about life.
My 3 key transformations:
I’m handling stress more effectively and sleeping more. We worked on one habit at a time. I now have a toolbox of strategies (journaling, taking walks, having a bedtime routine, positive reframing) that I use on a daily basis.
I’m enjoying food again. I’m eating what I really want instead of what I think is “healthy.”
I’m stronger and fitter than ever in the gym. I don’t really care about the number on the scale any more. The craziest & coolest part is that I weigh 10-15 lbs more than I used to... but the only change to my body comp is that I look more muscular.
Nutrition is a lifelong journey and I’m still a work in progress, but the tools and habits I’ve gained from BIN are gonna stick with me!
