TESTIMONIAL
Working with BIN and Coach Chris Bonilla has been the best decision I have made for my health! I was never an active person, and in my senior year of college, I decided it was time for a change and joined CrossFit. All was new and scary - heavy weights dropping, loud music playing, and shirtless people grunting. However, it took only a short time until I loved it. I joined BIN after being at CrossFit for over a year and feeling “stuck” with my performance. Although it felt like I was giving my 110%, my results did not reflect those efforts. A CrossFit coach suggested that I should work on my nutrition needs and recommended BIN, so I joined in late September 2022. A nutrition program sounded scary. I worried about restrictive diets and feeling hungry. However, my BIN experience was actually the opposite. Coach Chris made the process easy and sustainable for me - from providing my macro targets to recommending habit tips and meal recipes. He is knowledgeable and empathetic and has the perfect balance between being professional and approachable. After working with Coach Chris for over a year, I reduced significantly my body fat percentage and maximized my performance (I became a lot faster and stronger). More importantly, Coach Chris taught me how eating fuels my body to perform and feel better. My life at times becomes chaos with work, academics, and home responsibilities, but Coach Chris has always been there to support me in my nutrition goals by providing smart strategies that require minimal additional time and stress. He is also a super-driven individual with lots of responsibilities, so he understands and shares his wisdom and empathy. Working with BIN and Coach Chris has been more than just learning how to meal prep and track macros. I built incredible habits for life, and the best part is that I can show off my results in and outside of the gym. I am grateful to BIN and Coach Chris for all the support I have received to achieve my fitness goals!
FROM COACH CHRIS
Carlos came to me with the goal of reducing body fat and improving his performance in the gym (Crossfit). He had some serious time commitments as he was studying for his engineering license, but he really committed and hit the ground running on the process. With this in mind, it was really important that we focused on strategies that would include minimal additional stress and time commitment.
We initially embarked on a cut for about 4 months before entering a steady maintenance phase since then. Some of the really simple things we’ve worked on during this time are:
Scheduling a mid-week meal prep so that he has better options for the weekend. This is a HUGE one for many of us who tend to do really well during the week, but struggle with the weekend when routines become less structured.
Concentrating carbohydrate intake around training.
Adding a fruit or veggie to every meal. This is one of my favorite habits to work on with clients. I don’t care exactly which fruit or veggie it is, the idea here is to start looking at fruits and veggies as a crucial part of every meal, just like we do with protein! After that, it’s just a matter of finding fruits and veggies that you actually like and will stick with.
Super proud of Carlos and all his progress so far!
