How can I loose weight fast, but in a healthy way?
I had a friend ask me this question recently, and it made me realize how much we all wish for weight loss to happen quickly. The truth is, losing weight fast often doesn’t align with what I would consider a truly “healthy” approach.
There are countless diets out there—restrictive calorie plans, high-fat/no-carb, meal replacements—you name it. And about 95% of my clients tell me they’ve tried some, if not all, of these. They come to me feeling burned out, frustrated, and often regaining the weight they lost.
Here’s the thing: these diets work at first because they put you in a calorie deficit. That’s the bottom line. But what happens when:
You hit a plateau?
You want to enjoy your favorite foods again?
You travel or go out to dinner?
The moment you step away from the restrictive plan, the weight tends to come back. Why? Because these diets aren’t sustainable. They don’t teach you how to maintain balance, eat flexibly, or build long-term habits.
The Key to Sustainable Weight Loss
Instead of restrictive dieting, focus on building a lifestyle that works for you:
Eat a well-rounded diet: Prioritize whole foods, high-quality lean protein, and healthy fats.
Practice balance: Use the 80/20 rule—eat nutrient-dense foods 80% of the time and enjoy treats or less nutrient-dense options 20% of the time.
Exercise regularly: Pairing a moderate calorie deficit with movement is the sweet spot for fat loss.
When the time is right, reverse out of the calorie deficit to maintain your progress and avoid burnout.
