How can I loose weight fast, but in a healthy way?
I had a friend ask me this question the other day and it led me to understand that most of us really want weight loss to happen as fast as possible. But in order to lose weight quickly, it’s often not going to happen in what I would consider a “healthy” way.
There are so many “diets” out there that have you restrict so many calories that you no longer have the energy to exercise; high fat, no carb, meal replacements, you name it, it’s out there. And about 95% of the time my clients tell me they have tried some, if not all of these kinds of diets. They come to me worn out from it all.
They work at first. You know why? You are eating less calories. That’s the bottom line. But what happens when you stop losing weight, you want to eat your favorite foods again, or you travel? You start eating more and realize what you were missing instead of having worked to lose weight in a sustainable manner. So now you’re eating more calories and frustration sets in because you gain the weight back.
Eating a well rounded diet with whole foods, high quality lean protein, and healthy fats is what you to focus on. But we also want you to be able to eat well when you’re out to dinner, traveling, when the holidays hit, and when you are enjoying time with friends and family. Adding in some of those favorite treats that you love. I like to call it the 80/20 rule. Eat nutrient-dense foods 80% of the time while enjoying treats and less nutrient-dense foods 20% of the time. If you are in a caloric deficit and eating well most of the time while also focusing on exercise, you will be in a great place for fat loss. Then reverse out of the deficit when it’s time!
That’s what we preach at Black Iron Nutrition. Sustainability. And that’s the biggest reason I am so proud to work with this company and with these coaches! If you need to chat about how to put this into practice, then reach out and let us help you! Because we want nothing but success for you!
