SAM LAZAR, RD, LD

she/her

Sam was born in Detroit, MI and raised in metro Detroit, moving to California in 2011. She began as a recreational distance runner until she first joined a gym in 2013, where she fell completely in love with Olympic weightlifting. As she began competing in weightlifting, she first worked with a nutrition coach, which sparked a massive curiosity for nutrition. After learning more and more over the years, she absolutely fell in love with the way nutrition can change our lives, and began pursuing a future as a dietitian in 2017.

After spending years supporting herself through college and struggling financially, Sam became extremely passionate about real-life nutrition. It’s easy to look at a textbook and read what someone has deemed “right” or “wrong,” but in real life very rarely is this simple. She’s passionate about nutrition coaching with each person’s individual needs at the forefront. Successful nutrition can look different for every person, depending on their medical history, personal and family situations, social and cultural needs, financial situations, socioeconomic barriers, and individual goals. There is NO one-size-fits-all answer to nutrition, and she’s passionate about connecting with her clients and learning about each individual to help them find what feels right and sustainable for their own life.

Sam graduated from the University of Alabama in 2021 with her bachelor’s degree in Food and Nutrition and temporarily relocated to Missouri to complete her ACEND Dietetic Internship. During her intern year, she practiced under the supervision of a Registered Dietitian in clinical nutrition at local hospitals, community nutrition, and public health organizations, private practice clinics, local school districts, and a nutrition consultancy in Spain - building a base in understanding each person’s unique nutrition needs and how we can work together to meet those needs.

Sam completed her 1200 hours of supervised practice in August of 2022 and passed the CDR exam to become a Registered Dietitian in October of 2022.
